PROCESS CONSULTANT

Just as speaking can lead to facilitation, so facilitation can lead to process consultancy projects. For Tim these are invariably, but not always, to do with people and relationships.

The simple fact is that the better the relationships we have with colleagues, staff, stakeholders and customers, in that sequence, the better will be the performance of the business. But this is not a magic bullet, quick fix solution. It is a process that builds over time.

The core model: the need to clarify direction, develop trust and enhance performance are eternal truths that exist as long as the business trades. However, because time and circumstance are changing every minute of every day, we have to revisit different elements of the business from time to time. That is why some of Tim’s clients have been working with a Bull’s Eye for twenty years!

Tim is always happy to refer in other people, experts in their field that can help take the business to another level. So a process consultancy relationship with Tim can be ongoing for a period, it can be intermittent; it may be brief or it may last for twenty years. It may lead to someone else at any time.
Case study - LE Audio

Some clients Tim has worked with over the years have required a much more hands on approach.
Take LE Audio. They came as a result of a referral from another client and Tim has now worked with them for over 7 years. We have no contract with them or retainer fee; the relationship is one of trust, mutual respect and after the initial piece of work, consists of Tim going in on an as and when basis usually once a month.

Kevin originally wanted to grow the business but always felt insecure about the cash and the profit status of the company. Although we introduced elements of Best Practice so that business performance increased, preoccupation with the numbers was inhibiting Kevin’s ability to fulfill his potential as a great salesperson for the business. Sometimes MD’s fall back, particularly when under self imposed or external pressure, into old habits and patterns of behavior that are not in the best interests of the business.

In this case it was about a young MD having confidence that he had someone who would help him to push the business forward. The initial project started as a Bull’s Eye day leading to director appraisals. The company has realized the value in reviewing these on an annual basis with Tim’s help. He brings impartiality and objectivity to the process and MD Kevin knows that however challenging the work, something of genuine value will always come as a result. In addition to this Tim has helped with interviewing senior staff and doing one to one development work with managers, and providing a listening ear when Kevin telephones to bounce ideas.
